Wouldn't history be so much fun to learn to if you didn't have to learn all the dates by heart? The most boring parts about history are the dates without which you don't score anything if you are a student.
I hated history as a student just because I had to learn all the dates by heart. I could write pages and pages about Alexander's invasion of India or the conquests of Emperor Ashoka but I would always get the dates wrong by a year and and all those would be in vain.

Communist Party of Ironies.

The communists party of Kerala who crusade against perpetuating consumerism in the society is now preparing for the biggest shopping festival of India in Kerala. What an irony!!
It comes right on the heels of trying to ban big box retailers entry into the state to stop spread of consumerism. So let me get this straight, its alright for the state to encourage consumerism but not for private enterprise. What a joy!!

No More Free Lunches.

Economists often say there ain't no such thing as a free lunch. Kerala communists now gets the strange realization of this fact. Communists in India and especially in Kerala are always gung ho about subsidized higher education and is fighting tooth and nail against private higher education establishments. After finding it hard to recruit new doctors into government service especially from those who enjoyed the free lunch, they now want indentured labor from the people who enjoyed subsidized medical education. This might be a very bitter pill for SFI to swallow.
Why not just increase the tuition fees and use the extra money so collected to pay better salaries to attract doctors to government service.

Help the Middleman

Earlier our dear communists government came to the rescue of Kerala Vyapari Vyepasayi Ekopana Samithi when Reliance Retail decided to start their stores in Kerala, thus ditching the common man who might have benefited from the low prices of big box stores.
Now that Reliance has decided to bypass the middle men and source all its spices directly from Kerala farmers, will the government come to their rescue as well? After all their livelihoods would also be lost just as VVES members. May be they should form Kerala Edanila Vyepasayi Ekopana Samithi and take it to the streets, call some bandhs and in the process destroy some KVVES member shops.

PS In the rare event any of the supreme court judges are reading this, I'm not inciting a bandh, its just a suggestion to some poor folks who soon might be out of work.

Bottled Water

How much would you spend on a bottle of water? How about $55 a bottle? I used to buy a lot of bottled water(the regular ones) and never really cared about it. These days I rarely buy bottled water,I usually get tap water and when ever we go on a trip we take a water bottle with us.
